SHEILA SIDHU | CBT PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Since 1986, I have been working with children, young people and adults who have suffered trauma, mental health problems, witnessed abusive situations and coped with separation and loss in their life. This resulted in me wanting to help people by becoming a therapist. I obtained an Msc in Cognitive Behavioural therapies, which help people make the links between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. My aim is to enable people to use the skills and tools discussed in the sessions to address problems and improve coping capacity. Compassion focused therapy, mindfulness and meditation are also integrated into the sessions to help manage stress and anxiety.

In 2016, I worked as a volunteer therapist in a Women’s centre for 2 years and since

2018 have been working for Mind. I have experience in assessing and treating clients with various emotional disorders such as; panic, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, mild, moderate and severe depression. Furthermore, I can work with people with comorbid presentations, chronic health problems and those who have expressed suicidal ideations and who present as a suicide risk.

Seeking help is a difficult step for anyone to take. My aim is to create an environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings without being judged. Working in partnership together enables us to have an open and trusting relationship. I believe a positive therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in the success of therapy and it can help people make changes in their life.
